My recent discoveries in Joburg

In this post I would like to share with you a few of my new discoveries in Joburg, especially fashion and design ones.

I would like to start with a brand that has quite a challenging name to pronounce, but do memorize it as I’m pretty sure we will be hearing a lot of it in the near future! BODHISATTVA was launches in past few months by a very talented lady and a business woman – Yumnaa Firfirey. The dress I bought while visiting Kamers Pop up market in Bryanston last month is just something else! I have never owned a dress that fits so perfectly and almost adjusts to your body. Made from silk, with leather finishes, it is great both for the office or an elegant evening out. BODHISATTVA offers as well silk made blouses, tops and other pieces made from high quality fabrics. You can find them on Facebook here: BODHISATTVA or follow them on TWITTER: @Bodhisattvamobi

Now visiting Maboneng again –  did you know there is this cool spot just around the corner from the Bioscope cinema in Maboneng, it is sort of a guild of local designers and artists that work from containers situated in this common area. It is very unique and all pieces sold there are made locally by these talented South Africans. One of them is Nosipho Precious Zondi from Storytellers of Fashionkynd: Roots by Culture who designs the beadwork among other items. If you are looking for a truly South African product (jewellery, clothing, bags and other accessories), these guys have a great choice and am sure could even make something customised to your needs.

This hard working lady has recently launched her clothing brand and does everything by hand. All pieces can be customized by her for you.

You can also enjoy a nice cup of coffee, right in the middle of this common area and listen to some cool tunes played by the owner. The address of this inspiring place is: Corner of 263 Main and Maritzburg streets, Jeppestown, Maboneng Presinct.

That will be it for now, more to come just before the weekend!
